Reese Witherspoon goes strapless at the Water for Elephants premiere held at the State Theatre on Friday (May 6) in Sydney, Australia.

The 35-year-old newlywed was accompanied by her co-star Robert Pattinson, who recently shared why he took on this movie project.

“Francis Lawrence said he wanted to have a meeting and he took me out to the elephant sanctuary where Tai [the elephant] lives and I saw her doing a handstand and stayed there for about four hours playing catch with her,” Rob shared. “‘I would literally throw a ball and she would catch it in her trunk and throw it back to me, and I was like, ‘OK, even if this movie is the worst movie ever made, I get to work with this elephant for three or four months. I’m definitely doing it’.”

The “Twilight” stud and the “Walk the Line” lady showed up at the State Theater both looking dapper as they hammed it up for the local paparazzi.

Earlier in the day, Rob and Reese attended a press conference during which Pattinson shared a story of an event that almost kept him from doing the circus-themed flick.

Rob explained, “The first time I went to a circus, one of the clowns died. He had a joke car and it exploded. It was terrifying... And that’s the only time I’ve ever been to the circus.”
